June is normally a quiet month for STEM conferences. But for those of us who aren't on sabatical for the summer, here's another short sampling of 50+ of the hundreds of conferences, educational events and public meetings for space science, technology, engineering and mathematics professionals occurring in June 2013.
Each event is sorted by date of occurrence:
- The 2013 Galaxy Ball, organized by the Federation of Galaxy Explorers (FOGE) to honor influential space explorers, mission team leaders and individuals, will be held in Arlington, VA on June 1st.
- The 222nd Meeting of the American Astronomical Society (AAS), will be held in Indianapolis, IN from June 2nd - 6th.
- The 29th International Symposium on Space Technology and Science (ISTS) will be held in Nagoya, Japan from June 2nd - 9th.
- The 2013 Next-Generation Suborbital Researchers Conference will be held in Broomfield, CO from June 3rd - 5th.
- The 5th European Cubesat Symposium will be held in conjunction with the 6th QB50 Workshop in Brussels, Belgium from June 3rd - 6th.
- A session on How, Why, and When to Raise Venture Capital, organized as part of the NORCAT Hot Topics series and featuring John Ruffolo, the Chief Executive Officer of OMERS Ventures, will be held in Sudbury, ON on June 5th.
- A Professional Development Luncheon Seminar, organized by the Canadian Venture Capital Association (CVCA) and focused on "the need for (and results from) an evolving approach to the business of private equity," will be held in Toronto, ON on June 5th.
- A European Space Agency (ESA) conference focused on Big Data from Space, will be held in Rome, Italy from June 5th - 7th.
- The 2013 Spring Mars Impact Venture Pitch Fair, focused on connecting accredited investors with entrepreneurs seeking capital, will be held in Toronto, ON on June 6th.
- The 42nd Annual Conference of the Canadian Science Writers Association (CSWA), organized in conjunction with the Association des communicateurs scientifiques du Québec (ACS), will be held in Montreal, PQ from June 6th - 9th.
- A Chinese/ Russian Forum, organized by the British Interplanetary Society (BIS) to hear from and talk with experts on the Chinese and Russian space programmes, will be held in London, UK on June 8th.
- The 21st European Space Agency (ESA) Symposium on European rocket and balloon programmes plus related research will be held in Thun, Switzerland from June 9th - 13th.
- A two day course on the Introduction to Spacecraft Design and Systems Engineering, organized by the Ohio Aerospace Institute (OAI), will be held in Cleveland, OH from June 10th - 11th.
- The 2013 International SpaceWire Conference, bringing together space wire product designers, hardware engineers, software engineers, system developers and mission specialists interested in and working with the technology, will be held in Gothenburg, Sweden from June 11th - 13th.
- The 2013 Commercial Suborbital Spaceflight and North Carolina’s Nanobiotechnology and Defense Industries Symposium and Investment Summit will be held in Research Triangle Park, NC on June 12th.
- The 6th International Conference on Recent Advances in Space Technology (RAST2013), focused on "new ways of accessing space for the benefit of society" and organized by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) and the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA), will be held in Istanbul, Turkey from June 12th - 14th.
- A conference on Extraterrestrial Liberty: What is Freedom Beyond the Earth, organized by the British Interplanetary Society (BIS) in conjunction with the UK Centre for Astrobiology to explore the social dimensions of the permanent human settlement of space, will be held in London, UK from June 13th - 14th.
- The 4th Annual Conference for Women in Aerospace will be held in Arlington, VA on June 14th.
- The 5th Symposium on Space Climate (Space Climate 5) will be held in Oulu, Finland from June 15th - 19th.
- The 13th International Multidisciplinary Scientific GeoConference (SGEM 2013) will be held in Albena, Bulgaria from June 16th - 27th.
- The 50th International Paris Air Show will be held in Paris Le Bourget, France from June 17th - 23rd.
- The 2013 Satellite Industry Forum of the Cable & Satellite Broadcasting Association of Asia (CASBAA) will be held on Singapore on June 17th.
- The 19th Conference on Atmospheric and Oceanic Fluid Dynamic, organized by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), will be held in Newport, RI from June 17th - 21st.
- The 10th International Planetary Probe Workshop (IPPW) will be held in San Jose, CA from June 17th - 21st.
- The 17th Conference on the Middle Atmosphere, organized by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), will be held in Newport, RI from June 17th - 21st.
- The 13th Space Studies Program (SSP13) of the International Space University (ISU) will be held in in São José dos Campos, Brazil from June 17th - August 16th.
- The 4th European Ground System Architecture Workshop (ESAW) will be held in Darmstadt, Gernmany from June 18th - 19th.
- The 10th Low Cost Planetary Missions Conference, organized by the International Academy of Astronautics (IAA) will be held in Pasadena, CA from June 18th - 20th.
- The 1st International Conference on the Science of the Space Infrared Telescope for Cosmology and Astrophysics (SPICA) will be held in Tokyo, Japan from June 18th - 21st.
- The 2013 International Communications and Information Technology Exhibition and Conference (CoommunicAsia2013) will be held in Singapore from June 18th - 21st.
- The 2013 NASA Summer Rocket Workshop (RockOn2013), where where university students build, test and fly a science payload on a suborbital rocket to a 117.5-km altitude, will be held in Wallops Island, VA on June 20th.
- The 2013 Interplanetary Small Satellite Conference, organized in part by students, alumni, and staff from Caltech, MIT, Cornell, the University of Michigan, and the Jet Propulsion Laboratory (JPL), will be held in Pasadena, CA from June 20th - 21st.
- The 8th Workshop on Catastrophic Disruption in the Solar System and the 3rd Workshop on Binaries in the Solar System will be held together in Kamuela, HI from June 22nd - July 4th.
- The 25th Space Cryogenics Workshop focused on the discussion of cryogenics related to space missions, components, instrumentation and launch vehicle, will be held in Girdwood, AK from June 23rd - 25th.
- A conference focused on the Origins of Solar Systems, one of a series of Gordon Research Conferences on a variety of topics, will be held in South Hadley, MA from June 23rd - 28th.
- The 2nd Annual Science Policy Conference, organized by the American Geophysical Union (AGU) for Earth and space scientists, students, policymakers, industry professionals to discuss Earth and space sciences, will be held in Washington, DC from June 24th - 26th.
- The 2013 Commercial and Government Responsive Access to Space Technology Exchange (CRASTE) will be held in conjunction with the 2013 National Space & Missile Materials Symposium (NSMMS) in Bellevue, WA from June 24th - 27th.
- The 43rd Fluid Dynamics Conference, organized by the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) will be held in conjunction with the 44th Plasmadynamics and Lasers Conference, the 44th Thermophysics Conference, the 31st Applied Aerodynamics Conference, the 21st Computational Fluid Dynamics Conference, the 5th Atmospheric and Space Environments Conference and the AIAA Ground Testing Conference, in San Diego, CA from June 24th - 27th.
- The 10th Annual Meeting of the Asia Oceania Geosciences Society (AGOS) will be held in Brisbane, Australia from June 24th - 28th.
- A conference on Crossing the Boundaries in Planetary Atmospheres – From Earth to Exoplanets, organized by the American Geophysical Union (AGU), will be held in Annapolis, MD from June 24th - 28th.
- Two new Training Sessions in Concurrent Design, organized by RHEA Systems Canada, utilizing the spacecraft platform data model developed in the satCODE project and provided through the financial support of the Canadian Space Agency (CSA) will be held in Montreal, PQ from June 24th - 28th.
- The 2013 World Conference of Science Journalists (WCSJ2013), focused on "critical questions in the public sphere," will be held in Helsinki, Finland from June 24th - 28th.
- The Bonn Expert Meeting on the Use of Space-Based Information for Early Warning Systems, organized by the United Nations Platform for Space-based Information for Disaster Management and Emergency Response (UN-SPIDER) with the financial support from the Government of Germany and in cooperation with the Secure World Foundation, will be held in Bonn Germany on June 25th.
- A short course on Weird(er) Weather and a Changing Climate: Piecing Together the Puzzle, organized by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), will be held in Nashville, TN on June 25th.
- The 2013 KPMG Young Private Capitalists Golf Invitational will be held in Kleinburg ON on June 25th.
- A one day session on Space Colonies – A Proposed BIS Study Project, organized by the British Interplanetary Society (BIS) by the will be held in London, UK on June 26th.
- The Expert Meeting on the Use of Space-based Information in Early Warning Systems will be held in Bonn, Germany from June 26th - 27th.
- The 41st Broadcast Meteorology Conference, organized by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), will be held in Nashville, TN from June 26th - 28th.
- The 2nd Conference on Weather Warnings and Communication, organized by the American Meteorological Society (AMS), will be held in Nashville, TN from June 26th - 28th.
- The 2013 General Assembly of the Royal Astronomical Society of Canada (RASC) will be held in Thunder Bay, ON from June 27th - July 1st.
- A seminar on the Space Experience Economy (SEE) presented by Space Tourism Society (STS) founder and president John Spencer and others, will be held in Los Angeles, CA on June 29th.
- A week long Space Tour of Los Angeles, including stops at Space Exploration Technologies (SpaceX), XCOR Aerospace and the Mojave Air and Space Port, will take place in Los Angeles, CA from June 29th - July 5th.
