August is formally a holiday season for the international space science, technology, engineering and mathematics community which normally takes the month off. However, there is still over 65 conferences, educational events and public meetings occurring this month.
We track them all and each is sorted by date of occurrence:

- A NASA Social Media Event for Mars Science Laboratory Landing will be held in Pasadena, CA on August 3rd.
- The 15th Annual International Mars Society Convention will be held in Pasadena, CA from August 3rd - 5th.
- The 124th Annual Meeting of the Astronomical Society of the Pacific, focused on "communicating science," will be in Tucson, AZ from August 4th - 8th.
- The 6th International Olympiad on Astronomy and Astrophysics (IOAA) will be held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil from August 4th - 14th.
- The 12th International Symposium on Nuclei in the Cosmos will be held in Cairns, Australia from August 5th - 10th.
- The 34th session of the International Geological Congress will be held in Brisbane, Australia from August 5th - 10th.
- The 13th Annual Summer School on Adaptive Optics will be held in Santa Cruz, CA from August 5th - 10th.
- The Boston University (BU) Summer School on Plasma Processes in Space Physics will be held in Boston, MA from August 5th - 11th.
- A conference focused on 100 Years of Cosmic Rays and the Anniversary of their Discovery by V. F. Hess, will be held in Berlin, Germany from August 6th - 8th.
- A workshop focused on Practical Imaging with Optical Interferometers will be held in Ann Arbor, MI from August 6th - 9th.
- The International Workshop on Mars and the Moon: Changing Perspectives and New Questions will be held in Beijing, China from August 6th - 10th.
- The 10th Symposium on the Urban Environment and the 8th International Conference on Urban Climate (ICUC8) will be held in Dublin, Ireland from August 6th - 10th.
- The 5th Meeting on Cosmic Dust, organized by the Center for Planetary Science,will be held in Kobe, Japan from August 6th - 10th.
- The 29th Annual Mt. Kobau Star Party will be held in Kelowna, BC from August 11th - 19th.
- The 2nd International Summer School on Quantum Gravity, organized by the Beijing Normal University, will be held in Beijing, China from August 12th - 15th.
- The 2012 International Society for Optics and Photonics (SPIE) Optical Engineering and Applications Conference will be held in San Diego, CA from August 12th - 16th.
- The 75th Annual Meeting of the Meteoritical Society, an international organisation dedicated to research and education on meteorites and other extraterrestrial materials, will be held in Cairns, Australia from August 12th - 17th.
- A one-day Army Commercial SATCOM Users’ Workshop will be held in Baltimore, MD on August 13th.

- The 2012 Composite Conference, bringing together the international composite community to discuss composite performance, durability, and safety, will be held in Las Cruces, NM from August 13th - 17th.
