Events for December 2012

Here's a listing of 75+ conferences, educational events and public meetings for space science, technology, engineering and mathematics professionals occurring in December 2012. Each event is sorted by date of occurrence:

• The 40th Anniversary of Apollo 17, organized by the San Diego Air and Space Museum, will be celebrated in San Diego, CA on December 1st. 

• SpaceUp India, the “unconference” where participants decide space issues / topics to discuss, schedule and structure of the event, will be held in Bangalore, India on December 1st.

• A two day Space Hackathon, organized by the International Space Innovation Centre (ISIC) and the UK Space Agency, will be held in Oxford, UK from December 1st - 2nd.  

• The Mars Atmospheric and Volatile Evolution Mission (MAVEN) Science Community Workshop will be held in San Francisco, CA on December 2nd.

• The NASA International Space Station Advisory Committee Meeting will be held in Washington, DC on December 3rd.

• A presentation on PolarBot – a Low-Cost Semi-Autonomous Antarctic Rover built using low cost, off the shelf components, organized by the San Francisco chapter of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics (AIAA) and presented by polar technology developer Satish Chetty, will be held in Mountain View, CA on December 3rd.

• The 2012 conference on the Future of Air Transport, will be held in London, UK from December 3rd - 4th.

• The International Conference on Geological & Earth Sciences (GEOS 2012), organized by Global Science and Technology Forum (GSTF), will be held in Singapore from December 3rd - 4th.

• The 2012 Military Airlift: Rapid Reaction and Tanker Operations will be held in Florence, Italy from December 3rd - 4th. 

• The 2nd Aarseth Nbody meeting in Bonn, will be held in Bonn, Germany from December 3rd - 5th.

• The 2012 Arctic Technology Conference will be held in Houston, TX from December 3rd - 5th.

• The European Space Solutions, bringing together business and the public-sector with users and developers of space-based solutions, will be held in London, UK from December 3rd - 5th.

• The United Nations International Expert Meeting on Crowdsource Mapping for Disaster Risk Management and Emergency Response will be held in Vienna, Austria from December 3rd - 5th. 

• The Applied Technologies Institute (ATI) course on Spacecraft Systems Integration and Test will be held in Columbia, MD from December 3rd - 6th.

• The 45th American Geophysical Union (AGU) Annual Fall Meeting, including a special NASA Social Event will be held in San Francisco CA from December 3rd - 7th.

• A conference focused on New Trends in Radio Astronomy in the ALMA Era, celebrating the 30th anniversary of the Nobeyama Radio Observatory, will be held in Hakone, Japan from December 3rd - 8th.

• A colloquium on NASA’s Curiosity Rover: Four Months on Mars, part of the weekly talks organized by the SETI Institute, will be held in Mountain View, CA on December 4th. 

• A NASA Social meeting event with ISS astronaut Joe Acaba will be held in Washington, DC on December 4th. 

• A Regional Meeting of the International Academy of Astronautics will be held in Taipei, Taiwan on December 4th.

• Aeromart Toulouse, an international business convention for the aerospace industry, will be held in Toulouse, France from December 4th - 5th.

• A conference focused on the Real Time Control for Adaptive Optics Workshop will be held in Garching, Germany from December 4th - 5th. 

• A Workshop on European Satellite Snow Monitoring Perspectives, intended to bring the major European satellite snow monitoring initiatives together with their key users, will be held in Darmstadt, Germany from December 4th - 5th. 

• The Applied Technologies Institute (ATI) course on Satellite Communications Design and Engineering will be held in Columbia, MD from December 4th - 6th.

• The 2012 ATNF/AAO Bolton Symposium, organized by the Australia Telescope National Facility (ATNF) and the Australian Astronomical Observatory (AAO) will be held in Sydney, Australia from December 4th - 6th.

• A Christmas get together, celebrating the last men on the Moon, organized by the British Interplanetary Society, will be held in London, UK on December 5th. 

• A lecture on Curiosity: How Science Became Interested in Everything, part of the Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics public lecture series will be held in Waterloo, ON on December 5th.

• The 2012 Canadian Aerospace Summit, organized by the Aerospace Industries Association of Canada (AIAC) will be held in Ottawa, ON from December 5th - 6th. 

• The 2012 GVF Ka Roundtable Assembly , designed to provide a platform for all interested parties to discuss the deployment of the technology, service, and applications advantages brought to global communications by satellite Ka bandwidth, be held in London, UK from December 5th - 6th.

• The 6th European Space Agency (ESA) Workshop on Satellite Navigation Technologies (NAVITEC 2012) and European Workshop on GNSS signals and signal processing,, will be held in Noordwick, The Netherlands from December 5th - 7th.

• The 2012 Torus Workshop, focused on the nature and origins of the dusty material at the heart of active galaxies, will be held in San Antonio, TX from December 5th - 7th.

• The Financial Reporting Conference for the Mining Industry, organized by the Chartered Accountants of Canada, will be held in Toronto, ON from December 5th - 6th. 

• The 7th Eilene M.Galloway Symposium on Critical Issues in Space Law, organized by the National Center for Remote Sensing, Air and Space Law at the University of Mississippi School of Law, the Journal of Space Law and the International Institute of Space Law will be held in Washington, DC on December 6th.

• The Kosmica Sound Night, a social event for artists, scientists and the cosmically curious exploring sound and the "sonification" of space, will be held in London, UK on December 7th.

• A presentation on how GRAIL Unwraps the Moon, part of the weekly von Kármán Lecture Series and focused on the upcoming Gravity Recovery and Interior Laboratory (GRAIL) lunar mission will be held in Mountain View, CA on December 6th and again on December 7th.

• The 1st International Aviation Management Conference will be held in Ankara, Turkey on December 7th. 

• The 42nd Space Congress will be held in Cocoa, FL on December 7th. 

• The 40th Anniversary reception and dinner to celebrate the Apollo 17 mission to the Moon, organized by the Stafford Air & Space Museum will be held in Weatherford, OK on December 7th.
