Events for February 2013


Here's a listing of 85 conferences, educational events and public meetings for space science, technology, engineering and mathematics professionals occurring in February 2013. Each event is sorted by date of occurrence:

  • NASA will pay tribute to the crews of Apollo 1 and space shuttles Challenger and Columbia, as well as other NASA colleagues, during the agency's Day of Remembrance observance on the 10th anniversary of the Columbia tragedy, on February 1st. 

  • The 2013 Tennessee Valley Interstellar Workshop, an opportunity for relaxed sharing of ideas in directions that will stimulate and encourage interstellar exploration, will be held in Huntsville, AL from February 3rd - 6th. 



  • A presentation on the "Climatic and Hydrologic Evolution of Water on Mars," presented by Lunar Planetary Institute Senior Staff Scientist Stephen Clifford as part of the 2013 Physics and Space Science Spring Seminar Series, will be held in Houston, TX on February 7th.
  • The South by South West (SxSW) Pre Party, for individuals and companies that are heading to Austin, TX for the 2013 South by South West Interactive conference, will be held in Toronto, ON on February 7th.

  • The 4th Commercial Spaceflight Panel, with presentations from Boeing, Space-X, Sierra Nevada, Orbital Sciences, Lockheed Martin and others, will be held in Houston, TX on February 8th.
  • A lecture on a New Window on the Universe, focused on "exploring cosmic history with low-frequency radio astronomy,” will be held in Los Altos Hills, CA on February 8th.


  • The 2013 Civil Space Symposium, focused on commercial space access and orbital solutions, challenges, mission assurance, safety, policy and global competition,will be held in Huntsville, AL from February 12th - 13th. 

  • A presentation "by the light of the Watery Moon: New Discoveries about Lunar Volatiles," presented by Lunar Planetary Institute Senior Staff Scientist Paul Spudis as part of the 2013 Physics and Space Science Spring Seminar Series, will be held in Houston, TX on February 14th.

  • A workshop on Space Science and Exploration, part of the Horizon 2020 Workshops on Space Research and Technology Development, will be held in Madrid, Spain from February 18th - 19th. 
  • The 2013 ANITA Workshop & Astroinformatics Summer School, a 3-day program of lectures and tutorials designed to serve as an introduction to a wide range of IT tools that are essential for the modern astronomer, will be held in St Lucia, Australia from February 18th - 22nd. 


  • The 2013 Avionics Europe Conference, focused on global aerospace companies wanting North American suppliers, will be held in Munich, Germany from February 20th - 21st.

  • The annual Space Exploration Alliance Legislative Blitz, bringing together space enthusiasts from around the country to talk with congressional offices in support of NASA and space exploration, will be held in Washington DC from February 24th - 26th.
  • The 2013 MilSatCom for Middle East & Africa, considered the premier event for military satellite communications professionals, will be held in Dubai UAE from February 25th - 27th.

  • TED 2013, focused on "the Young, the Wise, the Undiscovered" will be held in Long Beach, CA from February 25th - March 1st.
  • TED ACTIVE 2013, focused on "the Young, the Wise, the Undiscovered" will be held in Palm Springs, CA from February 25th - March  1st.

  • The next Stennis Industry Days, designed to help business connect with Federal and State agencies, contractors and business at Stennis and from around the US, will be held in Biloxi, MI from February 27th - March 1st.
